Child care classes important for daycare providers

Child care classes are important for Texas licensing, but they are also important because busy, working parents are looking for qualified child care providers to supervise, educate, and nurture their children. But, how do parents know which facility to choose? Many parents will go to great lengths to investigate their child care options. As a director or provider of child care, whether you are an in-home or daycare facility, you need to be the type of person and place that parents are seeking. This means being an individual educated in the nurture, safety, and developmental stages of children, and the design and set-up of a facility or home that appeals to parents and children alike. This also means having trained, qualified staff.

Spending time in early childhood education or child care classes can position you with the credentials and experience for which parents are looking. Extension online offers a variety of child care courses that can be taken in your home, at your convenience, and for free or at a nominal fee. You can even use these courses as you work toward a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential - the most widely recognized credential in early childhood education (ECE) as well as a key stepping stone for career advancement in ECE.

Consider Extension Online child care classes such as:

Remember, you will be responsible for the nurture, safety, and education of the children in your care. You need to be prepared to answer questions parents may have about how you will handle different situations in the child care setting. These may involve the set-up and daily functioning of your daycare; food and feeding; how you will deal with challenging child behaviors; sleep, napping, and rest-time; developmental and educational activities, etc. Extension online child care classes can help prepare you for Texas child care licensing in these areas and more.
