Providers are sometimes hesitant to do some of these daycare activities with infants, however, with appropriate supervision and non-toxic materials, even infants can enjoy a variety of activities. Keeping children active for a good part of the day is important to their health. Researchers encourage children and adolescents ages 2 to 18 to engage in moderate to vigorous activity that amounts to 60 minutes a day – even if it occurs in 10-minute segments. Children are also advised to avoid being sedentary for more than 60 minutes at a time, except while sleeping.
