Pre-Service 1: Child Development and Assessment
Knowing how children develop is essential to meeting each child's needs. This module, part 1 of a 6-part Pre-Service training series, focuses on Core Competency 1: Child Growth and Development from the Texas Core Competencies for Early Childhood Practitioners. Participants will explore how children grow, develop, and learn, what to expect of children at different ages between birth and age five, and how to take into account the unique capabilities of each child. Funding for this online training was provided by the Workforce Solutions- Gulf Coast Workforce Board as part of their Early Care and Education Quality Improvement initiative.

Pre-Service 2: Responsive Interactions and Guidance
Early childhood practitioners strive to establish warm and secure relationships with the children in their care. This module, part 2 of a 6-part Pre-Service training series, focuses on Core Competency 2: Responsive Interactions and Guidance from the Texas Core Competencies for Early Childhood Practitioners. Participants will explore strategies for getting to know individual children, building strong relationships with families, recognizing the importance of exploration and play, providing scaffolding to support learning in all areas, and helping children learn positive social and emotional skills. Young children learn best in well-planned environments that are designed to meet their developmental needs. This module, part 3 of a 6-part Pre-Service training series, focuses on Core Competency 3: Learning Environments, Planning Framework, Curriculum, and Standards from the Texas Core Competencies for Early Childhood Practitioners. Participants will explore how to provide a well-planned, safe, and secure environment designed to meet children's individual and unique needs, and how to create an environment that promotes children's social emotional, cognitive, and physical development. This module, part 4 of a 6-part Pre-Service training series, focuses on Core Competencies 6: Diversity & Dual Language Learners, and 7: Family and Community Relationships from the Texas Core Competencies for Early Childhood Practitioners. Participants will explore strategies for creating collaborative partnerships with families to build a solid educational foundation for children. Participants will explore the laws, regulations, and procedures related to health and safety and why health and safety practices are a key component of high quality care.
